We are seeking an Assistant Brewer with a fanatical dedication to cleanliness, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and follow instructions, and a passion to create the best beer possible.
Previous commercial brewery experience is required for this position, with hot-side experience a plus.
This is an hourly position targeting 40 hours per week with potential for overtime; flexible work hours may be necessary at times, including some nights and weekends.
Pay is $16-18 an hour based on experience.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
All aspects of wort production Testing and analysis of wort and beer CIP of all vessels General facility cleaning Sanitary transfer of beer and wort between vessels Handling grain shipments and inventory, milling of grain Cleaning and maintenance of beer lines and dispense components Ability to lift 55 pound sacks of grain overhead, move 165 pound kegs, etc.
Kegging and other packaging procedures Cleaning kegs Assist in sensory evaluation Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on brewery equipment and processes Be an enthusiastic representative of the Olde Salem Brewing Company brand at all times The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
At least one year prior commercial brewing experience; brewing school is a plus Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation practices in beer production Familiarity with all facets of the wort production process, including milling, mashing, lautering, wort boiling, hopping and cooling Excellent mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting abilities Ability to work on one's own without guidance, and mesh with a small team Ability to describe beer flavors including desirable and defining characteristics of a style of beer, and ability to recognize common off-flavors in beers Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and ability to follow directions Desire to continue to learn the craft and improve processes Please submit a resume, cover letter, and references to email protected Job Type:
