Public Affairs Specialist

This position is located in the Customer Service and Community Public Affairs Service Line at the VA Medical Center in Salem, VA.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Planning and conducting a public affairs program for the medical center;Acting as a senior communications specialist in providing expertise and training on writing and correspondence issues for other public affairs specialists;Providing oversight, support, and guidance for special events;Acting as a spokesperson for the medical center in dealing with members of the media, stakeholders, Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO), etc.
;Preparing informational products concerning the facility and Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) activities;Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with state, local, and community agencies to engage interest and promote open communication;Advising and recommending innovative approaches for avoiding and/or resolving problems and reducing conflicts;Receiving and answering/directing incoming inquiries related to patient care, benefits, etc.
;Compiling information and preparing reports for submission to management;Composing and/or editing letters, speeches, and briefings for the medical center director and other members of leadership;Serving as a resource to all staff members in the area of public relations;Overseeing the use of facility photography utilized in newsletters, social media, websites, etc.
;Serving as the content manager for the facility website, intranet, and social media sites;Performing related duties as required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
