Clinical Dietitian

The Clinical Dietitian at the Salem VAMC is the medical nutrition expert responsible for independently planning, developing and directing all nutritional care activities for assigned clients, including those with complex medical and nutritional needs.
He/she supports the facility's mission and coordinates nutritional care with other health care providers, the client, the client's family and the community.
The increasing complexity and specialization in nutrition requires that the clinical dietitian have expertise in a wide range of disease entities, treatment modalities and drug/nutrient interactions.
Major functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducts comprehensive nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk.
Develops and implements an individualized plan for medical nutrition therapy in accordance with the patient's medical program goals and objectives.
Calculates nutritional requirements and necessary diet restrictions or food/drug interactions.
Utilizes assessment and evaluation techniques that consider age-specific needs as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
Orders labs and consults in accordance with Scope of Practice.
Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcome of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
Documents nutrition care plan in the patient's medical record, including nutrition assessment data, medical nutrition therapy initiated and recommendations, results of nutrition counseling and discharge planning.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
