Advanced Level Practice Nutrition Support Dietitian The Advanced Level Practice Nutrition Support Dietitian (ALP-NSD) is responsible for providing nutrition care in the hospital for patients requiring parenteral or enteral nutrition support.
The ALP-NSD promotes the safe delivery of nutrition support and has the knowledge and skills to provide quality care.
The ALP-NSD is responsible for making recommendations for macronutrients as well as micronutrient management.
The ALP-NSD is responsible for following the American Society for Parenteraland Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) criteria and evidence based practice guidelines.
The ALP-NSD is responsible for ensuring appropriate labs are ordered and for reviewing and troubleshooting adjustments to the nutrition support regimen to assist in correcting abnormal lab values.
Nutrition support is a sophisticated and specialized practice that requires the expertise and knowledge of multiple healthcare professionals including physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurses.
Advanced Level Practice Certified Diabetes Education Dietitian The Advanced Level Practice Certified Diabetes Specialist Dietitian (ALP-CDE) is responsible for providing nutrition care for patients requiring management of diabetes.
The ALP-CDE promotes the management of diabetes and has the knowledge and skills to provide quality care.
The ALP-CDE is responsible for making recommendations for macronutrients as well as micronutrient management.
The ALP-CDE is responsible for following the guidelines from the American Diabetes Association criteria and evidence based practice guidelines.
The ALP-CDE is responsible for ensuring appropriate labs are ordered and for reviewing and troubleshooting adjustments to the diabetes regimen to assist in correcting abnormal lab values.
Diabetes management is a sophisticated and specialized practice that requires the expertise and knowledge of multiple healthcare professionals including physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurses.
Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) Program Coordinator The Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) Program Coordinator has overall program responsibility, plans, directs, integrates and evaluates clinical elements and results for the DSME program at the Salem, VA Veteran Affairs Medical Center and its associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
He/she supports the facility's mission, including patient care, education and organization policy.
Responsible for the application of the specialized principles and practices of health care management and medical nutrition therapy to assure that the program meets the national standard of accreditation for Diabetes Self Management Education of the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
Conducts annual evaluation of patient and program outcomes and reports such information to the Medical Executive Board.
Remains abreast of statutory and voluntary standards/regulations and requirements for education, reimbursement and research.
Serves as mentor/consultant/preceptor for health care providers including, but notlimited to, registered dietitians, dietetic interns, dietetic technician students, nurses, nursing students, physicians and residents, to increase their knowledge of diabetes self-management and/or seek certification as Diabetes Educators.
Performance is characterized by the ability to initiate and lead interdisciplinary groups and teams while making significant and sustained contributions to the clinical success of the program.
