Human Resoures Assistant (OA), GS-0203-06

Talks with walk-in applicants to determine eligibility for employment and answers inquiries for applicants.
Schedules or follow up on employee physicals.
Evaluates experience for qualifications for entry level positions.
Initial point of contact for the Federal Employees HealthBenefit (FEHB), Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), Retirement, BENEFEDS, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and Roth TSP programs.
Explains the features of programs and assists employees in completing necessary forms to start, change, or cancel enrollment.
Serves as the Primary Card Issuer and/or Registrar (PCI) for the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) system as implemented per HSPD-12 and initiated through FIPS PUB 201-1.
Responsible for maintaining the completed and formallu authorized PIV Request, the approval notice from the PIV Registrar, the name of the PIV credential holder (applicant), and the credential identifier.
Keeps track of active cards as well as lost, stolen, and expired cards.
Assist and have secondary work processes such as issuing temporary employee, visitor, student, and contractor ID cards.
Ensures all new medical center applicants are fingerprinted prior to employment, utilizing the electronic fingreprint system.
Responsible for independently coding into the OLDE/PAID system, the full range of personnel action, utilizing and interpreting guidance provided by OPM, DVA, and VA HRIS.
Follows up on any rejected or erroneous actions; research the problem and provide effective solutions to correct the discrepancies preventing processing of problem actions.
Uses a personal computer and other office autoomation equipment and variouos software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print a variety of documents, produce correspondence, memoranda, directives, forms, and reports; and create or maintain spreadsheets or databases.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
