POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE/PD#:
Program Support Assistant / PD #2000This position is located at the VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia and serves as a Program Support Assistant within the Department of Surgery at Salem VAMC.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Formulates and recommends administrative policies and procedures and implements existing administrative regulations.
;o Performs problem solving across multiple areas (e.
g.
retrieving records, reports, data, and regulations), contacting appropriate service, facility or vendor involved as necessary;o Advises in analyzing manpower needs, methods, and procedures for utilizing staff with maximum efficiency; o Drafts correspondence, recommendations, reports, and memoranda related to management and administrative programs and issues;o Provides advice and guidance to managers and employees on questions and situations related to the administrative services provided and the interpretation and application of administrative regulations;o Develops preliminary worksheets that are needed to formulate the budget and develop program execution plan performance reports;o Maintains databases used to develop documents for budget submissions;o Develops methods and procedures for automating quarterly and annual administrative reports used to track budget funds and obligations;o Advises in the development of budget estimates and consolidates input for approval;o Plans programs, establishes goals and develops solutions for anticipated and emerging administrative problems related to the total care of the veteran;o Provides guidance in the development and presentation of an effective interdisciplinary system for monitoring and evaluating the quality and the appropriateness of patient care;o Coordinates, acquires data for, monitors and evaluates program quality management and performance improvement activities;o Provides guidance on administrative matters regarding patient care, employee education, and organizational policy;o Provides technical expertise in the field of healthcare planning and comprehensive advice regarding possible need for revision of regulations and policies governing planning activities;o Performs special studies on programs and workload to resolve problems and to obtain needed support services;o Participates in developing short- and long-range goals and in providing guidance for the organization's quality assurance plan;o Provides training and troubleshooting for clinical and administrative staff in VISTA Surgery Package, CPRS and associated supporting software;o Trains service employees and facility employees in the use Surgery and clinical record programs, to ensure that data is entered correctly;o Provides testing of new options and software versions prior to implementation to gain familiarity with the new product features and confirm that software is working according to specifications; ando Performs other related duties as assigned.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
