Medical Instrument Technician (Polysomnography)
TOUR OF DUTY:
Varied Tour, typically Monday - Friday, 8:
00am - 4:
30pm, with The incumbent functions as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) to the Sleep Medicine Program of Medical Care Service Line.
o Reviews patient history and verifies medical orders; o Verifies patient identification and completes necessary paperwork; o Provides patient education and instruction appropriate for home sleep testing; o Adheres to cleaning and disinfection procedures for portable monitoring devices; o Scores portable monitoring recordings according to AASM scoring parameters; o Identifies artifact, inadequate signals and study failures in order to generate reports for sleep physician to review; o Screens consults for home sleep studies and in-lab polysomnograms; o Schedules procedures; o Maintains portable sleep technical needs and clinic schedules; o Sets up CPAP and Bi-Level equipment, fitting patients with the correct mask type and size, and educating them on their therapy; o Provides patient training for nebulizers, oxygen, and sleep equipment; o Oversees patient welfare during testing for technical problems, patient well-being, and recording artifacts; o Maintains supplies in the Sleep Disorders Laboratory and portable sleep study program; and o Performs additional related duties, as necessary.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
